Plants & Growing

We rent our home, so I don't have the freedom to completely redesign the landscape or turn the yard into the garden of my dreams. But that doesn't mean I can't grow things.

I've found plenty of ways to bring plants into the spaces we do have—from houseplants inside our home to containers and hanging plants on our lanai.

I especially enjoy finding unusual and collectible houseplants. There's something about bringing home a plant I've never grown before, figuring out what makes it happy, and watching it develop that keeps me interested.

And then there's propagation.

What starts as one plant can become several, and I love watching those little cuttings turn into healthy new plants. Some stay with us, while others become plants I can sell and pass along to someone else.

I'm still learning, experimenting, and occasionally figuring things out the hard way. That's part of what makes growing plants enjoyable for me.

Here I'll share the plants we're growing, the unusual finds that catch my attention, propagation experiments, container gardening, plant care, and what I'm learning along the way.

You don't need a huge yard to grow something you love.

Sometimes a windowsill, a shelf, or a corner of the lanai is enough to get started.
